This week, a new formulation and manufacturing venture called Cohere Beauty made its formal entrance into the cosmetics and personal care industry. Under the ownership of private equity firm CORE Industrial, four companies across the US merged to become Cohere Beauty. The new company will continue to operate the facilities of what were formerly known as Marianna Beauty in Nebraska, Arizona Natural Resources in Arizona, HealthSpecialty Inc. in California, and Contract Filling Inc. in New Jersey. CORE, of course, deliberately bought up companies to meet what the firm identified as an emerging need within our industry. Late last year when Arizona Natural Resources acquired HealthSpecialty, Frank Papa, Senior Partner of CORE, told the press, “Our investment…continues CORE’s focus on building a leading beauty and personal care contract manufacturing franchise serving both established and emerging brands. We believe the combination of HealthSpecialty with ANR will prove highly impactful in both augmenting the platform’s existing product offerings and adding new capabilities and geographic reach.” Christine Staples, CEO of Cohere Beauty, a seasoned executive with a track record of driving top-line growth, margin increases, and high company valuations, is shaping Cohere into the a business that delivers formulation, R&D, manufacturing, and production services tailored to the realities of today’s industry market place. As Staples explains it, “With the evolution of the beauty industry and disruptive new brands driving change, it's not enough to simply meet our customers' expectations — we must consistently exceed them,” she says. “Cohere Beauty is the brand behind the brands,” continues Staples in her comments to the media earlier this week. “We are the only strategic manufacturing partner and formula incubator that thinks and innovates like a beauty brand. The company collaborates with its customers to seamlessly bring their product to life as they envisioned while setting them apart in the industry.”
